A Google Chat Space can have a Google Group email address, so members can easily send emails to the Space. This can be handy when you want to forward

emails to your team so you can keep everything in one place. Emails sent to

the generated email will be posted in the Space.

Note:

Only space managers can generate email addresses.

This feature is only available if your Google Workspace Admin enables the setting for ‘Adding groups to spaces in Chat’ in the Admin Console.

Step 1 - Open a Space, select the drop-down menu at the top and select ‘Space Settings’.

Step 2 - At the bottom, there will be an option to ‘Generate email’

Step 3 - Once generated, there’ll be an option to copy the email address and manage it.

You may want to explore the ‘Advanced settings’ which takes you to the Google Group settings. This is where you can customise permissions such as

  • Who can post (email) the group

  • Who can see the group emails
